Coastal Lawyer, Ernie Lee, discusses mortgage fraud: what it is and how to prevent it from happening to you.
This was a good and very timely subject to discuss. As a realtor in Augusta, Ga., I have been involved in a morgage fraud case. I found out just before the closing that the attorney's office had a forged contract and that's when everything came to a screeching halt. My seller called the FBI and they have talked to LOTS of people. The FBI takes this subject VERY seriously. Our board of realtors has sponsored several classes to teach realtors how to identify mortgage fraud and not unknowingly commit it. Sometimes, we can be involved and not even realize it.

Was this investigation resolved already? Did the FBI file charges against those subprime mortgage companies?
