Show notes

Five shows were scheduled. Four and a half shows were presented. But in spite of show-threatening weather, Much Ado About Nothing was another success for NFDC. In this episode, we ramble on about anything and everything, like numbering our podcasts, deciphering vintage dress patterns, finding jazzed-up Shakespearean songs, dressing soldiers believably in department store clothing, and replacing irreplaceable actors without having an actual understudy. We round out our conversation by thanking our wonderful cast and welcoming the youngest member of our NFDC family.

North Fulton Drama Club's production of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing closed on May 12, 2007. Auditions for our next production will be held in July, so please visit the NFDC blog for more information.

Panel:

  • Alyssa Jackson, Assistant Director
  • Nikki Strickland, Producer
  • Thomas L. Strickland, Director
  • Dorie Turner, Actress ("Margaret" in Much Ado About Nothing)

This episode's bumper music is "Roses Of Picardy," performed by The Oscar Moore Trio. Provided courtesy of Rumblefish Music Licensing Store.

(And yes, we'll be finding new music soon. We promise.)

NFDC: One More Weekend for Much Ado

We've one more weekend in our two-week run, so if you missed your first three chances to see Much Ado About Nothing, never fear. The last two shows will be May 11 & 12 at historic Barrington Hall in Roswell, GA. Seating is at 7:30pm, "curtain" at 8:30pm.

Since we at NFDC can never leave well enough alone, we've set our tale just after World War II. The setting serves the story perfectly, not just for costumes and music, but plot as well. As this play opens, brave soldiers return home victorious, only to find themselves beset and besieged by love.

Our actors have worked very hard over the past few months, so come on out and support them this weekend. And if you haven't already, give a listen to their Cast Podcast.

Show notes

Our first show of the 2007 season opens tonight, so it is time for another cast podcast. Like we did in October, we're bringing you the entire cast of Much Ado About Nothing. Show preparation was even more hectic than usual, so we interviewed our actors whenever and wherever we could find the time. If you hear some familiar dialogue in the background, we were probably recording in the middle of rehearsing a scene. Enjoy.

North Fulton Drama Club's production of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing opens on May 4, 2007. For more information about the show, please visit the NFDC blog.

NFDC's production of Much Ado About Nothing opens this Friday

Much Ado About Nothing opens this Friday, and we are almost completely done with costumes, the cast is off book and rocking their scenes, and the set looks gorgeous. I'm not sure how we are in such good shape, considering we made 11 costumes pieces from scratch, including 4 wedding dresses and 6 pieces made from Vintage Vogue patterns (which we have nicknamed "vague"), and Thomas has had to engineer flats from things that wouldn't normally be used in set design. The three of us are exhausted, covered in tiny puncture marks from pins, sunburned, and couldn't be prouder of ourselves and our cast.

If you are in the Atlanta area, or if you know anyone who is, please pimp our show! It's playing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for our first ever matinee (May 4-6), and next Friday and Saturday (May 11-12), outdoors on the lawn of historic Barrington Hall in Roswell. Admission is free with donations accepted, so you can't pass this deal up!

In this episode, we get back into the swing of things with a discussion about what an actor should expect out of an audition ... as well as what we expect out of our actors. Additionally, we delve into the thought processes behind picking the plays we produce and the settings in which we produce them. Along the way, we make a few weather predictions.

Show notes

In this episode, we look back on some favorite on-stage and backstage moments from our recent production of Twelfth Night. In just under twenty minutes, we ramble on about everything from disassembling turbans to ringing candelabras. Our banter is witty, quick and maybe a little confusing, but we had a great time recording it all. Obviously.

North Fulton Drama Club's next production will be William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing will open in May 2007. For more information about auditions or show dates, please visit the NFDC blog.
